The Traditions
A series of tweet threads that discuss the Traditions, the closest thing the Kindred have to universal “laws” among their kind. Beware, though, as these “laws” are variably interpreted, inconsistently enforced, and widely disputed. Hence, “Traditions.”
The First Tradition: Masquerade
Thou shalt not reveal thy true nature to those not of the Blood. Doing so shall renounce thy claims of Blood.
That simple couplet forms the basis of modern Kindred society. It is the First Tradition, and the whole game is named after it.#vamily #vampirethemasquerade

The Second Tradition: Domain
Thy Domain is thy concern. All others owe thee respect while in it. None may challenge thy word in thy Domain.
Those are some potent words, and millennia of interpretation has emerged surrounding what exactly this Tradition of Domain means.#vamily #VampireTheMasquerade

The Third Tradition: Progeny
Thou shalt sire another only with permission of thine Elder. If thou createst another without thine Elder’s leave, both thou and thy progeny shalt be slain.
These are the words of the Third Tradition, the Tradition of Progeny. But what do they mean? pic.twitter.com/8zmj0FE91E

The Fourth Tradition: Accounting
Those thou create are thine own childer. Until thy progeny shall be released, thou shalt command them in all things. Their sins are thine to endure.
That’s the Fourth Tradition: Accounting, and determines who’s allowed to stay undead in #VampireTheMasquerade #vamily pic.twitter.com/AC3rRIaDah

The Fifth Tradition: Hospitality
These are the words of the Fifth Tradition:
Honor one another’s Domain. When thou comest to a foreign city, thou shalt present thyself to the one who ruleth there. Without the word of acceptance, thou art Nothing.#vampirethemasquerade #vamily pic.twitter.com/BjUuAmprq5

The Sixth Tradition: Destruction
Thou art forbidden to destroy another of thy kind.
The right of Destruction belongeth only to thine Elder.
Only the Eldest among thee shall call the Blood Hunt.
So says the Sixth Tradition: the Tradition of Destruction. #vamily #Vampirethemasquerade (Art by Andrew Robinson) pic.twitter.com/rwcLCE0Kvo

Social Dynamics
The Kindred are social creatures. These tweets examine the nature of Kindred relationships and social interactions.
Hey, #vamily, what do you do when your coterie doesn’t have your back? Not all coteries are destined for trust and survival. #vampirethemasquerade (Photo by Alexander Popov) pic.twitter.com/JDflzfqHod

The odds are against you. Well-connected vampires have claimed all of the domains. Elder Kindred have preferential rights to all the best vessels and herds. You have one thing they don’t, though. You have your coterie. #vamily #Vampirethemasquerade pic.twitter.com/0O8NJrIRRm

Think about what you say! In #VampireTheMasquerade, choose your words carefully, and where appropriate, have them emphasize the Kindred condition. #vamily

One thing Vampire has prided itself on is its literary pedigree, drawing from works of fiction that have their grounding in the gothic and romantic literary traditions as well as various eras of genre fiction.

We’ve talked about the idea of interesting failure before, but I’ve been thinking about it recently in terms of Disciplines, specifically. In vampire media, when have you seen a vampire fail at using their supernatural abilities? #vamily #vampirethemasquerade (Shane Pierce) pic.twitter.com/P2CU6g1cCZ
